My dearest Cleveland Indians,
This year you have taken the City of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio on a ride we could only have dreamed of.
From opening day to Game 7 of the World Series, you have made us so proud to be a fan.
Injury after injury, you never backed down. ‘They’ll never win without Brantley,’ they said.
‘Two starters out of their pitching rotation, their bullpen isn’t strong enough.’
You weren’t supposed to beat Boston.
You weren’t supposed to beat Toronto.
And you definitely weren’t supposed to make it to the World Series.
But you did.
This season may not have ended the way we wanted but the journey has been one we will never forget.
You made baseball exciting again. You brought back that feeling of pride that once was buried with heartbreak.
Thank you for putting your blood(literally), sweat, and tears all out on that field this season.
From the City of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio, we thank you, we love you and we are so proud of you.
